12 - Do you support the World Trade Organization (WTO)? Yes/No/Undecided

Comments

CD1 Lyle Nasser (Reform) Undecided
CD2 Mark Udall (Democrat) "I believe U.S. participation in the WTO is important for a number of reasons. First, the WTO is the only international organization dealing with the global rules of trade between nations. With over 90 percent of all world trade conducted within the WTO, it is clear to me that the WTO has an important role to play. Second, trade has been good for this country. Trade now accounts for $1 trillion of the U.S. economy and is responsible for nearly 1/3 of its growth since 1992. Trade-related jobs pay on average 13 percent more than non-trade related jobs and are the fastest-growing segment of jobs in the country. Third, withdrawal from the WTO would isolate the U.S. from the international economy. It would also eliminate dispute resolution, which is the best recourse U.S. businesses and workers have when faced with unfair trade barriers.

"Finally, I believe the WTO needs to be reformed, not destroyed. I have supported efforts to bring about reform in our trade policy in general and in the WTO in particular, and I will continue to do so to ensure that the forces of globalization move in the right direction. But I believe abandoning a rules-based trade system would be detrimental to American families, workers, business, and national security. Shutting our doors on the WTO isn't the way to improve the world trading system."
CD2 Ronald Norman Forthofer (Green) No - "This organization facilitates the devastation of the environment and harms human, civil and labor rights."
CD3 Drew Sakson (Libertarian) No - "The US must end All involvement in this organization."
CD4 Dan Sewell Ward (Natural Law) No
CD5 Randy Mackenzie (Natural Law) No - "Not as it exists today. It needs adjustments."
CD6 Adam D. Katz (Libertarian) Undecided - "I do support free trade, I have concerns as to how they promote free trade"

13 - To the best of your knowledge, do you have the endorsement of any humane organizations? Yes/No

CD2 Ronald Norman Forthofer (Green) No

CD1 Lyle Nasser (Reform)
CD2 Mark Udall (Democrat)
CD2 Ronald Norman Forthofer (Green)
CD3 Drew Sakson (Libertarian) "I have not held elective office."
CD4 Dan Sewell Ward (Natural Law) "The principal question is the degree to which federal law applies. Endangered species, yes. Some felonies, no. But I support humane treatment of all species."
CD5 Randy Mackenzie (Natural Law) "Generally I'm for less legislation and regulation with increased awareness of the problem so that people can see the long term impact of their actions and then move in a direction of more life-supporting behavior. Ideally this implies a change in consciousness (individual & collective) so education of the total picture is crucial. Thanks for the opportunity."
CD6 Adam D. Katz (Libertarian)

N/A Patricia P. Baker (Reform) "Citizen access, end discrimination against third parties and ballot initiatives, promulgate rules covering Title I that the average citizen can understand; My main campaign issue is to promulgate a complete set of rules to accompany Title I election laws. Currently, very sketchy and confusing rules exist for some laws, and are totally absent in other cases. For example, if citizens want to initiate a petition drive, there should be step by step instructions published by the Secretary of State (SOS). Can you sign your own petition? Can your notary be a member of your group? If someone doesn't remember if they registered their married or maiden name, can they sign the petition? This is also my answer to #5. The ballot initiative process should be made easier so that the average citizen has access to their government and to their democracy. I would also institute electronic petition collection, registration, and voting."
