CHVL Candidate Information ~ 2008 General
Election
~ State Senate District 8 ~
This page contains candidate information about the
candidates for State Senate District 8.
Highlights from this race:
There is no "Pro-Animal Pick" in this race.
Al White's voting scores as a state representative have ranged
from 29% to 100%. Although he has been no friend to animals or CHVL,
because of his occasional good scores we have chosen not to give him a "Paws Down" rating
at this time.
However, we do want to inform you that Representative White has stated that
he would like to remove a voter-enacted ban on recreational trapping.
The Colorado Statesman
reported earlier this year that Representative White stated that if Colorado
has a constitutional convention, he would like to remove several voter-initiated
amendments from the constitution; he specifically
mentioned Amendment 14 of 1996, which prohibits recreational trapping.
(Representative White introduced legislation to call for a consitutional
convention, but the legislation did not pass.)
