Note: In 2005, Political Voice for Animals (PVA) changed its name to Colorado Humane Voters League (CHVL). The PVA name will continue to appear on some earlier pages (e.g., earlier newsletters, election pages, and scorecard pages).

Helping Animal-Friendly Candidates

CHVL's process for helping animal-friendly candidates has two major components: Identifying the candidates and supporting their campaigns.

Identifying animal-friendly candidates

CHVL has several resources to help people identify animal-friendly candidates.

  • For candidates who have voting records with CHVL, check the candidate's voting scorecards. CHVL was formed in 1999 and we have scorecards for the U.S. Congress and the Colorado General Assembly (state legislature) beginning in that year. The scorecards show each politician's vote on each CHVL high-priority issue. For the governor and the legislature, we post scorecards after each regular session.
  • Check our Election/Candidate Information section for candidate information. This includes past voting scores for candidates who have a history with CHVL, and candidate responses to our position questionnaire.

Supporting animal-friendly candidates' campaigns

There are several ways to help the candidates of your choice. Besides financial assistance, most candidates need help with a variety of activities and tasks.

  • Work on a campaign through CHVL. To volunteer or get more information, please send us an "e-note" at chvl@coloradohumanevoters.org.
  • Contact the candidate's campaign directly and volunteer or make a financial contribution.
